🥋 Meet MS Jenn Viola?
- Jenn Viola (often referred to as Ms. Jenn) is part of the Viola family martial arts community in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. She has been involved with kids’ programs connected to Viola Karate / Allegheny Shotokan Karate Club, a long-running dojo founded by the Viola family in 1969.
🧸 123 Mommy and Me
- 123 Mommy and Me is a parent-child bonding program Jenn Viola founded and directs.
- It’s designed for infants and toddlers (about 18 months and up) and offers activities that use music, movement, art, and social interaction to help young kids develop social skills, coordination, and confidence while spending fun, interactive time with a parent or caregiver.
- The classes are structured around developmental play and interaction, encouraging children’s growth in areas such as motor skills and early socialization.
- Jenn started the program because she wanted a class that helped her own daughter build early skills and confidence—there were limited options for children under age 3 in the area, so she created one.
- The program has run sessions over multiple years and is offered in the Irwin/Norwin area of western Pennsylvania.
📚 Jenn Viola’s Background and Experience
- She holds a BA in Business from the University of Pittsburgh and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
- She has PA teaching certification and classroom teaching experience including kindergarten student teaching.
- Jenn is certified to teach youth martial arts through related programs like the Nursery Ninja curriculum, and she helped with curriculum development for local karate classes emphasizing character, respect, and confidence building.
